This week was particularly close to me because I feel strongly that data driven instruction is the key to great teaching. I think that so often teachers get into teaching through the motions and forget to evaluate what students are really getting and not getting. Data Dashboard is a great program that allows teachers to see points of data in a quick and easy way and are able to plan for students who are at, above and below level in many different areas. Without even knowing one single student in the data I looked at, I was able to see who was going to need extension and remediation. I could run absences and tardies to plan for quick discussion with parents. I could see who is receiving special education services and even a quick glance at a picture. This program is great to review past years, and to plan for upcoming classes. I think more teachers need to take advantage of this great resource!
